My Data Vault.ca supports 7 types of encryption

• DES (8.2 compatable)
• DES (8.3 standard)
• TDES (triple DES)
• Blowfish (variable key)
• AES (128 bit)
• AES (192 bit)
• AES (256 bit - most secure, but very slow)

Secure Blowfish - algorithm uses a 448-bit encryption key and is the most secure of the available algorithms because of the long key length.

Triple-DES - algorithm uses a 192-bit key length and provides very strong protection. This is stronger than the encryption commonly used by banks.

AES / DES- algorithm uses a 128-bit key length and provides strong encryption. The DES algorithm was the encryption standard for the government for several years. This is encryption strength is commonly used by banks.

User Security

User name and password are provided by My Data Vault.ca, the username is unique to each user and consists of both letters, numbers, and special characters.  This information is then stored within the client software, and encrypted so no one can access that information.  Passwords supplied by My Data Vault.ca are a minimum of 20 characters consisting of letters, numbers, and special characters so BRUTE FORCE attacks on the server are futile.

Server Firewall

The server uses a variable port system, only the client software may access the port on the server.  All other ports are closed and firewalled, so even the most devious of hackers can not get in.

Several authentication methods take place when the client and server communicate, the server ensures  that it is the client software making any requests, then validates username, then password, then checks the group that you were assigned to.  Once these authentications all pass the data transfer may begin.
